Smart intends to quickly expand the range of its new 100% electric SUV. As proof, the #1 has just been seen in a sportier outfit with two air intakes at the bottom of the hood. This vitaminized variation could bear the name of Brabus. Discovery.
The Smart range has only one representative, the Fortwo, since the end of the Forfour’s sale at the end of last year. In the summer of 2022 in China (in 2023 in Europe), a new member will join the catalog: it’s SUV #1.
Up to 400 hp?
The 100% electric fighter, installed on a new platform (SEA developed by Geely), is 4.27 m long, which is as much as a Mini Countryman. It is equipped with a 200 kW engine (about 272 hp) which sends all its power to the rear wheels. During the presentation of this new model, Smart hasn’t ruled out releasing a Brabus version.
A more assertive plastic
Aesthetically, and if we trust the stolen photos, SUV #1 would adopt an aesthetic a little different from the conventional model with air intakes at the bottom of the hood. The grille becomes all black, while the side vents have been slightly modified. The lower shields are fitted with an aerodynamic blade highlighted with a red border. Tint that is also found at the level of the roof, the mirror shells, the side skirts and the brake calipers. Black door handles and darkened windows complete the range. Note the presence, just above the rear spoiler, of a reversing camera which did not then exist on the photos of the model during the presentation.
