Fresh products, vitamins, fibers, vitamin C, the smoothie has many benefits. A majority of people do not consume enough fruits and vegetables, or prefer purchased juices and sodas to stay hydrated during the summer.
The smoothie is however an excellent alternative to benefit from a supply of raw vegetables, refresh you and bring you all the energy your body needs to face the heat of summer.
How to prepare a healthy smoothie?
bet on the vegetables. The fibers they contain will allow you to reduce the glycemic index of mixed fruits. Green vegetables also contain many healthy antioxidants. The ideal ratio? 40% fruit, 60% vegetables.
Choose fruits that have a Low GI. Turn to raspberries, currants, plums, grapefruit, green apple, grapes, or even kiwi. However, if the banana has a high glycemic index, it remains an ideal basic ingredient to thicken your smoothie and give it a creamy, sweet and unctuous side without the addition of dairy or sugar.
Limit the number of fruits. If you make your own smoothie, do not add more than 3 different fruits. The goal? Clearly perceive the taste of each ingredient and above all do not increase the glycemic index. Forget industrial smoothies with many hidden sugars and additives.
add superfoods to your preparations. In your glass of smoothie, why not add a superfood, like chia seeds, rich in fibre, calcium and omega-3; hemp seeds, source of omega 3 and 6; spirulina, composed of iron, vitamin B12 and vitamin E; raw cocoa, rich in antioxidants and contributes to cardiovascular health or even psyllium seeds, cholesterol-lowering.
