No more ruminations and the endless search for the ideal position to find sleep. Doing a series of stretches before going to bed will help you reach a state of relaxation.
Five short minutes is enough plenty to stretch out and prepare for a good night’s sleep. They aim to calm your mind and relax your whole body.
Some stretches also have very specific and essential health effects. Combined with slow, deep, mindful breathing, stretching exercises activate your blood circulation, calm your heart rate and may even facilitate your digestion.
How to release tension before going to sleep?
In order to achieve a state of absolute relaxation, put on your pajamas and adopt a few basic stretches daily to create your nighttime routine. Start with slowly turn your neck from side to side for about thirty seconds.
Then do roll your shoulders forward and then back. Realize large circles with your arms one way, then the other for about 30 seconds on each side.
Standing with your feet anchored in the ground, perform hips circles taking care to alternate the orientation of rotation. Place your hands on your hips, spread your feet slightly and lean forward. Try to touch your right foot, then your left foot.
Finally lie down on your bed, your back pressed against the mattress, your arms forming a T. Bend your knees keeping your feet resting on your comforter. Release your knees to the right to stretch your spine and look in the opposite direction. Bring your knees back to the center, then do the same exercise on the other side.
