The government also makes apps for smartphones. For example, these apps can help you log in to government websites easily and securely. But also to give you more information during your holiday. PlusOnline has listed six useful apps for you.
1. DigiD
Logging in with your DigiD on a computer can be a hassle. Often a username and password is not enough, but you must also confirm the login with an SMS code. Logging in is just that little bit easier with the DigiD app.
When you have set up the app, you can then choose the option: ‘log in with the app’ wherever you need to log in with DigiD. You then only need to enter the five-digit code on your telephone. You can also use the app to log in to your computer. Then the app gives you a four-character code that you have to take over.
2. Message box
With this app you can easily and safely read the digital mail of, for example, the tax authorities. Just like with DigiD, you log in with a five-digit code. You can then read all messages in the app.
3. CopyID
Renting a car, booking a holiday or taking out a telephone contract: in many of these cases you also have to hand in a copy of your proof of identity. An ID card also contains information that is not relevant to the party involved. With the CopyID app you can safely take a photo of your ID. Hide irrelevant information with a bar.
To prevent fraud even better, it may be wise to state a date and the company for which the copy is intended on the copy. Via CopyID you can add such a watermark and then save or print the edited photo.
Previously, tax specialist and lawyer Mr. Nicole Gold already advised on how to make a copy of an ID card.
4. Foreign Affairs travel app
With this app you can follow the current travel advice of your holiday destination. The app also provides all necessary information about the country: the addresses and telephone numbers of the nearest embassy, travel checklists and any security risks. The app also shows you what to do in the event of an emergency, such as hospitalization, death or arrest.
5. Customs travel
Another handy app for the holiday is the Customs Travel app. This app shows exactly what you can and cannot take back to the Netherlands and which additional rules may apply on arrival and departure. In addition, the app has a conversion module for currency, weight and volume.
You can also save photos of purchase receipts in the app. An additional import tax applies for purchases with a value of more than 430 euros. This can lead to misunderstandings if you bought a new camera just before the holidays. That is why it is useful to also save that receipt in the app. This way you avoid double taxation, because you can prove that the camera was purchased in the Netherlands.
PlusOnline previously listed eight handy travel apps.
6. Stop Healing
This app of the National Police was released during the Week of Security. With the app you can check barcodes, serial numbers or license plates when purchasing a second-hand purchase. This way you can quickly and easily check whether something has been stolen. It is also possible to register your own valuables in the app.
All apps are available for free in the App Store (Apple) and Google Play Store (Android).
