Hide this nipple that I cannot see. Facebook did not like the photo posted by Rowena Kincaid. This Englishwoman has a breast cancerthat she was diagnosed in 2013. Currently in the terminal phase, the forty-year-old woman is used to sharing and recounting her daily life with the disease by dint of informative and preventive advice, on his page, followed by over 11,251 fans. It was therefore natural that she had posted a photo of her right breast with the nipple circled with a rash to show a potential symptom of breast cancer.
Posted on Jan. 23, the breast photo was viewed more than 72,000 times in the space of two hours before it was removed by Facebook for breaking posting rules. A self-censorship in order against which several patients with breast cancer protested. Rowena Kincaid who justified this publication by the desire to “save lives” was moved by this deletion and repeated by posting a photo of the same breast, but this time topped with a smiley.
An open investigation
As the case gained momentum after being covered by British media, a Facebook spokesperson said an investigation was underway to determine the legitimacy of the removal of the controversial photo.
Rowena Kincaid tells about her life in a documentary called “Before I Kick The Bucket” available on her tumblr.
