“My health, my choice: the responsible self-medication info minute”. In view of the lack of responsiveness of the public authorities, the French Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry for Responsible Self-medication (Afipa) is launching an awareness campaign on self-medication. It will be broadcast on the radio (offered to 1,000 radios and webradios for free broadcasting) and on the screens of 1,300 pharmacies.
In summary : 10 chronicles and 3 films to better inform the French about responsible self-medication in order to answer several key questions, according to the Afipa press release.
-What is self-medication?
-What are the good reflexes to adopt ?
– What do the doctor, the pharmacist, the French think?
-What is the real cost of self-medication? What is the benefit for the patient? What does it mean to be responsible for your health? Is reimbursement synonymous with efficiency?
“For our association, this is an unprecedented general public operation allowing the establishment of a positive and educational communication which will allow each French person to practice self-medication in an autonomous and responsible manner”, affirms Dominique Giulini, the newly elected president of Afipa.
Self-medication: a solution to reduce the social security hole
Developing responsible self-medication is a way of better organization of the French health system and reducing the social security deficit.
“1.5 billion euros per year could be saved by expanding the scope of medications available without a prescription, ”recalls Dominique Giulini.
“If this campaign is successful, we plan to repeat the experience by addressing, for example, certain pathologies that can be treated by self-medication,” concludes Dominique Giulini.
