For 2012, health insurance exceeded its savings targets on medical prescriptions.
At a time when ministries and institutions are called upon to tighten their belts, health insurance can boast a good record. Medical control saved 593 million euros on doctors’ prescriptions in 2012 (612 million in 2011).
According to a document revealed by the APM News Agency, this amount even exceeds the objectives set (108%). The results obtained on transport and daily allowances are better than expected. The economic crisis has undoubtedly had an influence on work stoppages.
On the other hand, on the medication side, the objectives are 90% achieved. Among the main sources of savings are antiplatelet drugs, antibiotics, statins and anxyolitics. For 2013, the social security financing law provides for savings of 550 million in this prescription item.
The generic prescription rate reached 83.6% in 2012 instead of the expected 85%.
