Jeff Bezos doesn’t let a small bridge in Rotterdam ruin his sailing adventures. If you are incredibly rich, countless will go doors bridges open for you!
In Rotterdam turns out all too well; the De Hef hoist bridge (or the Koningshavenbrug) in Rotterdam must literally be demolished so that the upcoming superyacht of Jeff Bezos can pass under it! Well, with 175 billion dollars to your name, nothing is too much to ask.
Jeff Bezos wants to go under the bridge
The problem starts with the Dutch company Oceano, which is making the world’s largest sailboat ever for the Amazon CEO. The joke costs €430 million and creates enormous employment opportunities in Alblasserdam, the home port of Oceano.
Before the boat can brave the seven seas, on the other hand, she has to make a long trip over the Nieuwe Maas (check the route here). That route requires a passage under De Hef, but this lift bridge cannot be lifted far enough to allow Bezos’ half-billion toy to pass.
In short, to let Jeff Bezos and his sailboat out into the North Sea, the bridge has to be temporarily disassembled. Let the municipality of Rotterdam have previously promised not to do that specifically anymore, writes Rijnmond.
The whole would take about 2 weeks and the bridge is only a day apart. Fortunately, no trains have been running over the old bridge for a long time and it is mainly a piece of heritage.
