Cultivated for millennia in Asia, rice is now consumed throughout the world. The vast majority of its active compounds are contained in the envelope that surrounds the seed, the rice bran. A veritable treasure of beauty, in the form of an oil or a scrub, these ingredients are full of resources to pamper the skin that is often abused by sportswomen.
What is that ?
Pure vegetable oil is obtained from rice bran by cold pressing. Rich in protective antioxidants and nourishing phytosterols, it offers an ideal synergy to protect the skin from skin aging and external aggressions. Once pulverized, the rice bran particles are effective in achieving a gentle exfoliation of the skin without irritating it. Finally, by penetrating to the heart of the hair, rice bran proteins play a fortifying and volumizing role in shampoos and hair care.
Why is it good for athletes?
Thanks to its complex of anti-radical molecules, the oil fights against skin aging and protects against oxidative attacks (wind, UV…). Moisturizing and soothing due to the presence of phytosterols, it is also renowned for activating the microcirculation of complexions suffocated by the surrounding pollution. Its dry touch is ideal after sport to leave the skin soft without the feeling of a greasy film. Against fine, limp, volumeless and tired hair, rice proteins swell with water and give an interesting volumizing effect for hard-to-manage hair.
How should it be used?
On the skin, vegetable oil can be applied pure, because it penetrates the skin quite quickly, or mixed with essential oils, or even other vegetable oils as a face or body care cream. In a quick recipe, you can easily concoct an anti-redness face oil by mixing 250 ml of rice bran oil with 30 drops of cistus essential oil (resinous shrub from the Mediterranean basin). In ready-to-use cosmetics, there are rice bran scrubs well suited to facial or body care. Health food stores sell rice protein in a liquid form that can be combined with other ingredients to make homemade shampoos or hair care products.
