A jerry can with kWh’s
If you’re going to be away from home for a bit longer, it’s smart to bring a power bank for your phone. After all, you never know. So why not do the same for an electric car? You are looking at the ZipCharge Go, a power bank for your electric car. The small case contains a 4 kWh battery that can charge a car at a speed of 7.2 kW. A larger version of 8 kWh is also on the way. The trolley with battery weighs more than 20 kilos.
With 4 kWh you should be able to tap about 20 to 30 kilometers extra range. If you want to transfer the full load, you lose half an hour. At home you can refill the ZipCharge Go at the wall socket. Since it is cheaper to charge at home, using the electric jerry can is even more economical than stopping at a fast charger along the way. In theory, you can also use the ZipCharge to store solar energy to feed it back to your home later.
The price of the ZipCharge Go
The plastic on the outside is made from recycled plastic, all throughout 2021. The ZipCharge Go is connected to the internet via 4G, so you can control the power bank via an app. Of course it is waterproof and you can adjust the colors to match your car. The price of the portable battery is not yet known. In the UK they also want to offer it with a subscription for just under 60 euros per month.
