For those who find the C-HR too intense
Except that you stumble over the compact crossovers outside: were you looking for more arguments that these types of cars can’t be dragged? After other brands such as Volkswagen, Toyota is also introducing a second crossover in the same segment. This Toyota Corolla Cross will accompany the existing C-HR. The Corolla Cross has to be the more practical alternative. The two crossovers are on the same platform by the way.
You can already see it on the roofline: that of the Toyota Corolla Cross is less steep, so there is more space in the back. The Corolla Cross is 4,460 millimeters long, 1,825 millimeters wide and 1,620 millimeters high. The wheelbase measures 2,640 millimeters. The newcomer is therefore a bit bigger, wider and higher than the C-HR. The wheelbase is the same. The Cross does not have a third row of seats, but simply offers space for five people. The low sill and the wide loading opening will certainly make a few people very happy.
The engine of the Toyota Corolla Cross
In the Netherlands, Toyota supplies the Cross with a hybrid powertrain without a plug. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder is assisted by an electric motor for a combined output of 197 hp. The 0-100 time is a fine 8.1 seconds. Toyota looked again at the calibration of the CVT automatic transmission, so that it should now react a bit more naturally than before. That should help with motion sickness. The new Toyota Corolla Cross is expected to be available in the Netherlands from autumn 2022. Prices will follow.
