One of the five copies
Do you have an insatiable appetite for a used Renault Twizy? And preferably one that is covered with authentic racing parts? One about which you could very nicely say that it got its inspiration from Formula 1; or very unkind that it most resembles a Hot Wheels project that got out of hand? Well, look no further: this Renault Twizy F1 replica meets all your needs.
No, this is not the real Renault Twizy RS F1 from 2013. That was a unique concept car, sort of a reference to the old Espace F1 from the 1990s. This is not a concept car, no one off, and really Renault had nothing to do with it either – other than supplying the base Twizy.
One of the five
This lime green Renault Twizy RS F1 replica is the work of Oakley Designs – the British tuner, not the sunglasses brand. They built five tributes to the original Twizy RS F1, of which a blue copy was for sale before. At the time, the asking price was 32,000 euros. This Twizy is now for sale in England, via the auction site Collecting Cars. At the time of writing, the highest bid is £20,000 – around £23,400.
The special Twizy is equipped with real F1 parts – okay, the mirrors from the 2015 season – and also has center lock-wheels from Formula 2. In addition, it was completely covered with carbon fiber aero parts. It still only has 17 hp, but thanks to a tuning box (a technical term) it reaches a top speed of 96 km/h, instead of the original 80 km/h. He may not have the full KERS system from the original Twizy F1 on board, but this makes up for that loss a bit.
