A crash won’t affect their mentality
Regardless of whose fault it is, it must be immensely frustrating to be knocked off the track by your biggest opponent. Especially if you really need the points in the championship. Although both Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen were undoubtedly very disappointed last Sunday, according to the reigning world champion, the matter has no effect on his relationship with Max. If he hasn’t changed his mind since the British GP, that is.
Hamilton still likes to drink beer with Verstappen
Formula 1 Magazine published a quote from Lewis Hamilton online yesterday from an interview before the Belgian GP: ‘I don’t see why I couldn’t have a beer with Max.’ He makes a special comparison: ‘I have always been inspired in that area by Nelson Mandela. He spent 28 years in prison and when he was released he went to have a cup of tea with the man who put him behind bars.’
So Sunday’s crash should not affect Lewis’s opinion of Max either. In the same interview, Hamilton indicates that he does not care about everything that is said on social media. Someone sometimes shows him something, but he does not actively look at the networks. It makes a difference for Hamilton that – to our knowledge – he does not speak Dutch, because not all Dutch fans are very pleased with the Mercedes driver. Or not very much at all.
