Shortage of semiconductors, Covid, war in Ukraine… the planets are aligning unfavorably to delay deliveries of new cars. From the Twingo to the Espace via the Jogger and Mégane E-Tech electric, L’argus reveals the average lead times at Renault and Dacia.
If sales of new cars in France have continued to fall in recent months, it is not necessarily because buyers are losing interest in cars. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, above all, most manufacturers have never managed to sustainably rerun their factories at full speed to produce in sufficient quantities. The fault, above all, with a shortage of electronic chips, even if the war in ukraine further complicated matters. Delivery times therefore tend to lengthen, sometimes dramatically.
Until January 2023 for the Clio Société
At Renault and Dacia, the most obvious example is the Clio, whose range has recently evolved. If you order a copy of this city car today, you risk not being delivered before October, or even before January 2023 for a company version! But the Arkana, Express and other Dacia Dusters or Joggers aren’t doing much better, having to wait until September. Even worse : the times that we communicate to you here correspond to an average, for fairly common versions, without optional equipment. Sometimes it only takes a little to lengthen them much more.
If the “little” news from Losange, the electric Mégane E-Tech, will be available from July in some cases, other customers will have to be patient until September. By the way, manufacturing for customers will only be open from April 5th. For once, the electric E-Tech version of the Twingo is also much more desirable than its thermal twin. The 100% electric models are therefore no longer as advantaged as at the end of last year, even if it is still expected that their ecological bonus will drop to 1er next July.
Soon the end for Scénic and Kadjar
After the Talisman, at the end of February, the short version of the Scénic will see its production stop this summer, just like that of the Kadjar which will give way to the replacement Austral. To be served quickly, you must opt for a Space: if you order a copy this month, you should be able to pick it up as early as May 2022.
