Land Rover is actively preparing the renewal of its Range Rover family. Prototypes of the classic version are currently circulating on the roads of southern Spain. Despite the heavy cover-up, some information appears. And to help us imagine it here is a first teaser.
[Mise à jour le 20/10/2021] Land Rover just published the first 2022 Range Rover teaser. The fifth iteration of the luxury SUV pioneer will be officially revealed on October 26 at 9.45 p.m. On this cleverly blurred photo, we can guess very classic lines and a traditional recipe. No revolution on the agenda.

After having taken care of the renewal of the Defender range, Land Rover will tackle, from 2022, its Range family: the classic version and the Sport. This is the first version that was taken, here, in full testing.
A style still as massive
The style is still kept secret under an important camouflage, which however lets sweat a massive silhouette. Model codes are respected with an engine cover falling over the fenders. Compared to the Sport version, some prototypes of which are also circulating in Spain, the thickness of this cover is slightly different. However, it should be noted that this classic Range will adopt, like the Velar, flush door handles.
An electrified platform
The technical part will evolve more deeply with the adoption of the new modular platform MLA (Modular Longitudinal Architecture). Derived from that used on the new generation of the Defender, it will further electrify the Range. The heat engine will always be the basis of the model’s mechanical offer, which will thus be able to have a 5.0l V8. These engines could be supported by a light hybrid technology (MHEV) via a 48V battery, or even by a rechargeable system. On the other hand, there is no 100% electric version on the horizon. Its 4×4 transmission will always allow it to go everywhere, or almost.

In addition to the electrification of the engines, the fifth Range Rover of the name will take a further step towards more connectivity and automation of driving. Scheduled for current 2022, it will be followed a few months later by the third version of the Range Sport.
