Many actions by hospital staff are carried out to alert on the conditions of reception of patients in psychiatric hospitals. In reaction to the multiple protests, which are gaining momentum, the Minister of Health Agnès Buzyn announced on Thursday January 24 a budget increase of 40 million euros, reports France Info.
In December 2018, the State announced for the year 2019, a credit of “64 million euros from credits unfrozen exceptionally in their entirety“for the psychiatry sector, recalls Le Monde. As well as an extension of 50 million euros. An organizational innovation fund in psychiatry will also be financed by 10 million euros announced in December by the ministry.
Various measures to improve the psychiatric sector
These 40 million euros are added to it. The goal ? Fund measures announced last June to improve the psychiatry and mental health sector. This money should help to provide better living conditions in psychiatric services, to develop the supply of housing for people with mental disorders, to help people with mental disabilities to access employment. Students will be trained in mental health first aid. This amount will also be used to better contribute to suicide prevention and the development of child psychiatry.
Agnès Buzyn undertook to appoint a “ministerial delegate for psychiatry and mental health”, and confirmed the creation of a course for nurses specializing in psychiatry, which had been addressed in September 2018 by the government’s health plan .
