The station wagon version of the Taycan
It’s a bargain from Porsche, but we’re glad it’s in the intersection. So far we had the Taycan and the Taycan Cross Turismo. The Cross Turismo had a station wagon roofline, more ground clearance and plastic around the wheel arches. The Sport Turismo takes over the continuous roofline, but omits all the off-road details. So feel free to think of it as the station wagon version of the Taycan. That of course sounds just a bit too dull, so they call it the Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo.
About the GTS
The letters GTS were applied to the rear of the Porsche 904 for the first time. You can see it like the GTI from Porsche: faster, but not the fastest, some nice options, nice decoration and preferably you order it in red. The Taycan GTS offers 598 horsepower if you use launch control. For both the normal Taycan and the Sport Turismo, the 0-100 time is therefore 3.7 seconds. The top speed is limited to 250 km/h.
Perhaps even more interesting is the range. The GTS is the first Taycan to travel more than 500 kilometers on a single charge. The stated range is 504 kilometers. The range of the Sport Turismo GTS is not yet known.
The chassis is tuned differently for the GTS and the (optional) steering rear wheels also get their own setting. The sound that the car makes inside is different with the GTS. You can also recognize the Taycan GTS by the black accents on the outside. Inside, the GTS has upholstery that resembles Alcantara, called Race-Tex by Porsche. Brushed aluminum details complement other black accents in the interior.
A panoramic roof
Another novelty for the Taycan GTS is a panoramic roof with something Porsche calls Sunshine Control. The roof can change from clear to matte with liquid crystals. This allows you to protect the occupants from the sun without sliding anything in front of the roof. A new technique? Meh, look up what LCD stands for. It’s cool that the roof consists of nine segments that can all be adjusted separately.
The price of the Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo
The Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo comes first as a GTS. This costs 137,300 euros without options. Other versions will follow later. The Taycan GTS – so the non-station wagon – costs 136,300 euros. So you can deduce that the Sport Turismo costs about 1,000 peak more than the normal Taycan. Also apply this to other versions.
