A Porsche Carrera GT kept until today in the collection of its first owner, which only traveled 550 km, is now for sale in the United States. The auctions are underway and already exceed one million euros.
Porsche built 1,270 Carrera GT between 2003 and 2006. Today considered to be one of the latest and most successful “old-fashioned” supercars with its atmospheric 612 hp V10, manual gearbox and electronic guardrails very limited, the German discoverable is now very popular with collectors. A first-hand copy is currently for sale in Chicago (USA) and it only displays 342 miles on the odometer, or 550 km.
An all-gray finish
This Carrera GT has chassis number 0855, a number engraved on its center console. She is completely gray, its “GT Silver Metallic” bodywork opening onto a “Dark Gray” leather interior upholstery and a silver gray dashboard, without forgetting the carbon fiber of the monocoque chassis which appears among other things on the door sills. The only bright colors visible are the yellow of the brake calipers, the blue of the center nut of the right wheels and the red of the nut of the left rims. Note also the beech wood gear lever knob, a tribute to the Porsche 917 that characterizes all Carrera GTs as standard.
Registered first in the name of the owner’s company and then in the name of the collector himself, the car has remained in the latter’s collection since its first turns.
The million euros largely exceeded
Factory output in 2005, this Porsche Carrera GT has therefore driven very little since, but it underwent a complete overhaul with removal of the engine a few months ago. The total cost of this operation nevertheless amounted to nearly $ 50,000, or approximately € 43,000.
The car is accompanied by various original accessories such as tailor-made luggage and tools. It is offered for auction. As of this writing, several potential buyers have already come forward and the top bid is $ 1.6 million ($ 1.38 million).
