On a daily basis, our eyes face many aggressors: screens, UV rays, pollution, lenses for those who wear them… They are often tired and dry at the end of the day. And yet, it is relatively simple (and necessary) to take care of it to avoid all types of eye infections and other ophthalmic migraines.
For starters, the easiest way to relieve tired eyes is to remember to hydrate them regularly. But how ? The simple act of blinking distributes the tear film over the entire surface of the eye. If you work on screen, perform two or three sets of 20 blinks every hour. You can also bring saline, for times when your eyes feel particularly dry.
If special eye drops allow better hydration or treat various ailments (conjunctivitis, chalazion, etc.), natural methods exist to relieve ocular symptoms. Vitamins, plants, trace elements… If chamomile or blueberry are plants recognized for eye health, eyebright (from its little name “glasses breaker”) is just as interesting for minor eye ailments. It is not found in hydrosol, but you can prepare a decoction (1 teaspoon of dried herb for a cup) which will be used (once filtered and cooled) on compresses.
How to rest your eyes easily?
To rest your eyes, it is also possible to perform the technique of palming. What does it consist of?
- Rub the palms of your hands together for a few seconds;
- Form a shell with each of your palms;
- Place a cupped palm over each of your eyes, taking care to block out any light. Be careful not to touch your eyes with your hands, just cover them;
- 4. Close your eyes, “look” at the dark horizon and relax. If you have strain in your eyes, you may see colors or flashes, not a deep black. If so, try to think of something calming or dark;
- After a few tens of seconds, you will begin to feel any tension in your shoulders and neck. Release all your muscles, relax;
- After the desired duration, remove your hands, open your eyes and take time to enjoy an effortless view.
