Can 5G have adverse effects on human health? Since it was deployed, the technology worries. Corn The National Frequency Agency (ANFR) has just published its first report (intermediate) of the specific absorption rate (SAR) check on 46 phones equipped with 5G and reveals that there would be no additional risk.
5G phones that meet the standards
44 phones were tested compliant, 13 offered 5G functions, complying with regulations, two exceeded the set limit, manufacturers were notified for software updates. As a reminder, the unit observed is the DAS, the ANFR recalls that it “allows quantify the energy transported by electromagnetic waves and absorbed by the human body“. These waves are measured in two ways:
- the SAR trunk : which comes to evaluate the number of watts per kilogram when the phone is kept in the pocket or in the bag. Its limit is 2W/kg. Here it was measured to average 0.979W/kg, with a max measurement of 1.80W/kg.
- the DAS member : when the phone is pressed against a limb, held in the hand or worn by the ear… Its limit is 4W/kg. Here, the average value is 2.263 W/kg (the maximum recorded of 3.89 W/kg)
In other words, nothing exceeds the allowed limit. Which would mean, according to this first study, that 5G does not present a health risk, insofar as it remains within the authorized spectrum.
5G terminals were also analyzed. They are different from previous technologies, recalls the ANFR, because they force the phone to couple two simultaneous networks: 4G and 5G. Increases in the specific absorption rate were observed: on average 0.4% for the trunk SAR and 1.8% for the limb SAR.
