After the success of the two previous editions in 2007 and 2008, the AMD association is repeating its AMD screening campaign, no longer over a day but over a whole week, from Monday June 29 to Friday July 3. These National AMD Information and Screening Days will take place thanks to the partnership of the National Union of Ophthalmologists of France (SNOF) and the French Society of Ophthalmology (SFO). Private or hospital ophthalmologists will perform eye examinations to detect the warning signs of this disease, which affects people over 55 years of age.
Essential prevention
Ten years ago, AMD was considered inevitable, an incurable disease. Today, thanks to prevention and to the progress of basic research, genetics and imaging techniques, treatments exist. But early treatment is essential to preserve the vision of the people concerned as long as possible.
Make an appointment
In order to avoid too long a wait for those interested, a prior appointment is recommended with the ophthalmologist’s secretariat. To find out which one will be in your region, log on to the website www.journees-dmla.fr or dial the toll-free number: O 800 00 21 26.
