When slow cars take on the Nürburgring circuit, the spectacle is sometimes worth as much as it is with the most powerful supercars. Some amateur pilots, at the wheel of Citroën AX, Renault Twingo …, do not hesitate to push their “cars” beyond their limits.
Usually, when we talk to you about the Nürburgring circuit in these columns, it’s either to show you one of our extreme tests on the famous German track, or because a manufacturer sets a new record there. But the Nürburgring is also a trail open to all for public sessions during which amateur pilots can venture into “Green Hell”. Some do not hesitate to enter it with cars of modest performance, which does not prevent them from ensuring a certain spectacle.
Sport is not just speed
The video of the day is a compilation of low power cars pushed into their entrenchments on the famous Nordschleife (north loop). We are talking about a first generation Renault Twingo followed closely by a Ford Transit Courier utility, a Peugeot 806 minivan, a Volkswagen Transporter T6 van or even a Citroën AX whipped to the max. And if you’re careful, you’ll even spot a pilot in a banana suit.

A variety of dishes to say the least
In addition to the cars mentioned above and their driver, the video also highlights the sometimes delicate cohabitation between vehicles and drivers with very different performance. The more or less well driven supercars must indeed make their way through the traffic along the 73 bends.
Clashes are therefore commonplace and the greatest attention is required. You have been warned if you plan to visit one of the last motorsport sanctuaries still accessible to ordinary people.
