Break the vicious circle
Vaginal dryness is not something you discuss easily. As a result, many women are left with painful and annoying complaints. Unnecessary, because something can be done about it.
Vaginal dryness occurs in about 30 percent of women. It causes pain during intercourse, itching and irritation.
Hormone fluctuations
It is caused by hormone fluctuations, for example during menstruation, after the menopause or by using a contraceptive pill. Other reasons are: a lowered resistance, use of medication or a reduced sexual arousal.
The latter can create a vicious circle. Because you expect pain during sex, you become less aroused. If you are less aroused, the vagina does not become moist. For fear of pain, you may even unconsciously tighten your pelvic floor muscles. Then making love hurts. In this way, the complaints worsen more and more.
Lubricant
A lubricant is a temporary aid to relieve vaginal dryness and pain during sex. Because most lubricants work for a long time, it is possible to apply them in advance. You do not apply it internally, but around the opening of the vagina.
It works best if the partner also applies lubricant to his penis. Use a water-based lubricant. An oil-based lubricant can cause a vaginal infection and when you use condoms, they can become porous. There are also lubricated condoms on the market.
moisturizing gel
A moisturizing gel lasts longer than a lubricant. You put it in the vagina once every three days. The gel moisturizes the internal vagina for a long time. This keeps the condition of the vagina optimal. This can give long-lasting results.
Various lubricants and moisturizing gels are available at drugstores and pharmacies. In addition, there are also nutritional supplements that counteract dryness. If the problems persist for a long time, it is wise to visit your doctor. He may also prescribe a hormone treatment.
