The Nissan Townstar is now available to order in France, from € 22,200 excluding VAT in a van or € 27,540 including VAT in a Combi. This close cousin of the Renault Kangoo is currently only marketed in gasoline of 130 hp but with three possible finishes, quite well equipped.
Nissan launches the Townstar on the French market. This small van based on the new Renault Kangoo, offered as a panel van as well as a family Combi, is available in a much smaller range than its French “cousin”, since it chooses the 130 hp 1.3 l TCe four-cylinder petrol as single engine. The vehicle therefore ignores the 100 hp TCe and the 95 and 115 hp Blue dCi diesels, while diesel remains popular in this segment. It must also do without the side door “Open Sesame” without a central upright, which Renault jealously guards, and is only offered for the time being in the short version L1H1 (4.49 m long, 1.87 m high).
In return, the Townstar has a five-year (or 160,000 km) warranty compared to two years for most of its competitors, including the Kangoo. It is also € 610 cheaper than the latter with an equivalent engine, with a starting price of € 27,540 including tax in a Combi. The two vehicles are produced in France, in Maubeuge in the North, just like the new Mercedes Citan and its future derivative intended for individuals, the Class T. In the course of 2022, their respective ranges will be enriched with a 100% electric version of 102 hp, called EQT at the star brand and equipped with a 45 kWh battery, with approximately 300 km of autonomy on the WLTP cycle.
