- The child victim of this congenital malformation has just died at the age of 5
The story moved the whole world. In 2015, baby Jaxon was born without part of his brain and skull, due to a malformation, but managed to live. A small miracle according to scientists. The announcement of his death was made by his father, Brandon Buell, on 1er last april, on the chain News4Jax. “He was surrounded by his parents and his family and was able to enjoy all the love and hugs possible during the last moments of his life and his journey with us”did he declare.
A miracle that he lived so long
When Jaxon’s parents were pregnant with the little one, an ultrasound revealed a malformation and doctors advised the parents to terminate the pregnancy. The chances of surviving childbirth and afterwards were slim. An unthinkable option for parents, practicing Christians, who refused to follow the advice of doctors. The story picked up momentum, when Jaxon turned 1, when his parents revealed him to the world. Little Jaxon’s courage and the announcement of his story brought an outpouring of support. More than 225,000 people followed and encouraged the Buell family in this ordeal.

The disease Jaxon suffers from is called anencephaly, a birth defect of the central nervous system that deprived the boy of part of his brain and skull. This disease affects around 1 in 5,000 babies and usually dies within hours of delivery. This was not the case with Jaxon. After being born by Caesarean section, he survived the disease, spending his first three weeks in the neonatal ward where numerous tubes kept him alive. “It was very emotional, I remember having him in my arms on the second day and remember the doctors telling me that my son would probably never walk, that he would not talk, that I would never know when he had hungry, or that he could never hear or see. They really had no hope of seeing him survive”confided his mother to the DailyMailas recalled Paris Match.
Jaxon’s father wanted to pay a last tribute to his son via an Instagram post which News4Jax is relaying. “I love you so much Jaxon. I look forward to meeting you one day, in great shape, running and laughing in Heaven. Enjoy it now, my son. You earned it by being the most perfect, adorable, strong little boy in the world. I will never forget those beautiful blue eyes and that perfect smile and all the precious memories we have together. His strength, his kindness, his incredible spirit will live on.”
