Apps that don’t update when you use them are super useful, Microsoft is testing the feature right now. Read here why.
If you are working on an app and suddenly it starts updating automatically, you can lose data. Microsoft is testing some updates to the Microsoft Store on Windows 11 that will improve the way updates are handled. Currently, some store apps are closed and reopened while an update is running. So that means you can lose input when you open the Microsoft Store and selected update apps.
Microsoft is testing useful function
Microsoft test now a change in the Store that skips updates for apps that are open. The update also includes faster navigation. This should make it a bit smoother to find apps to download and install on Windows 11. In addition to these navigation improvements, Microsoft is also introducing native Arm64 support. So the Microsoft Store will be a lot faster on devices like the Surface Pro X.
Microsoft is also working on its support for Android app pop-up stores. If you browse the web and find an Android app in the Amazon Appstore, Windows 11 will display a pop-up shopping experience for you to quickly install.
Update
The update is not available to everyone at this time. So far, only Windows Insiders in the Dev channel can use it. The update should be available to all Windows 11 users in the coming months. Microsoft is also testing a new restore feature for the Microsoft Store that will allow Windows 11 users to quickly reinstall apps on a new PC.
