The Maserati MC20 waited for the arrival of winter to undress. The brand at the Trident unveiled the first pictures of the future convertible version of its supercar. A silhouette close to the coupe
On the “spy” images officially provided by Maserati, this MC20 Cabriolet sports a camouflage with a play of clouds. The brand wanted to give a nod to its new headgear. By analyzing the photos, we can assume that it will not benefit from a canvas hood but a hard roof. The dimensions should remain unchanged from the MC 20, with a length of 4.66 m and a width of 1.96 m. No photo of the rear of the vehicle has been shared, which does not allow us to discover the bulk of the changes. Overall, the silhouette seems to stay extremely close to that of the coupe.
The house V6 3.0 Nettuno of 630 hp, placed in the rear central position, will always be in the game. This Maserati promises to be sufficiently armed to face the Audi R8 Spider and Lamborghini Huracan Spyder. Especially since the MC20 has a carbon fiber body, while its two competitors are content with aluminum. This could help limit the excess weight caused by converting to a convertible. As a reminder, the 0 to 100 km / h is reached in 2.9 s by the coupe.
2022, a busy year for Maserati
The brand has not yet unveiled the launch date of this discoverable super sports car which will be marketed in 2022. A little later, a 100% electric version of the MC20 is also scheduled. The manufacturer is also preparing a new generation of its GranTurismo coupe for next year. However, this will not be the most important novelty for the Italian manufacturer: it will especially unveil its Grecale. While this SUV, a little more compact than the imposing Levante should be revealed on November 16, it doesne will finally be presented that next spring. It is above all on him that Maserati is counting to increase its sales figures, but it also needs models like the MC20 Cabriolet to strengthen its sporty image.
