The back of all packages will feature impactful color photographs accompanied by a specific message. Smokers will thus be able to visualize diseased lungs accompanied by the message “Smoking causes cancer”. The front will consist of general warnings such as “Smoking kills”.
Among the fourteen other specific messages introduced on cigarette packs, users may find “Smoking during pregnancy is harmful to your child’s health”, “Protect children: do not make them breathe your smoke”, “Smoking can reduce ‘blood rush and causes impotence “or” Get help to quit smoking “. They will all be accompanied by a shocking image.
According to the decree published in the Official Journal on April 20, 2010, messages illustrated with a shock photograph will cover “at least 40%” of the back of the package and will be surrounded by a black border with a minimum thickness of 3mm.
Note, some tobacconists began to offer cigarette packs with shocking images in February.
