Lotus presents the Emira in detail in its special First Edition launch series. Offered with 4 or 6 cylinders for two power levels, it is fully equipped and will start at €87,995 in Germany. Its French prices will be known soon.
The marketing of the Lotus Emira, presented in July 2021, is fast approaching but will be done in stages. Only a special launch configuration named First Edition will be offered initially, first in V6 then in four-cylinder. Lotus has revealed new technical and pricing information on these two inaugural variants.
364 or 400 horsepower for the Lotus Emira
The V6 model will be launched first, taking over the Toyota-sourced 3.5L six-cylinder supercharger that was already found in the Exige and Evora. Under the hood of the Emira, it sends 400 hp and 420 Nm of torque to the rear wheels, enough to go from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.3 s with the standard six-speed manual gearbox, or 4.2 s with the optional six-speed automatic transmission thanks to an additional 10 Nm, according to Lotus forecasts which remain to be confirmed at the time of homologation. The manufacturer is considering a top speed of 290 km/h.
Next will come the Emira with an inline four-cylinder engine, powered by a specially modified version of the Mercedes-AMG 2L turbo engine named M139. This variant of the English sports car benefits from 364 hp and 430 Nm of torque; it is fitted as standard with an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox with paddles on the steering wheel, designed for it with AMG. Its performance is on par with that of the V6 model with a 0 to 100 km/h expected in 4.2 s and an estimated top speed of 283 km/h. Furthermore, if Lotus’ projections for CO emissions2 are verified, its 195 g/km will avoid the maximum ecological penalty in France, this rate corresponding to a tax of €14,881 currently and €18,188 according to the scale voted for 2023. The V6 version, with its 245 g/km, will pay the maximum amount capped at €40,000 for 2022. and even €50,000 in 2023.
A launch edition that aims to be versatile
With the Emira, Lotus intends to develop a wide range capable of attracting both its faithful and newcomers who would rather look at Porsche usually. So the First Edition relies on complete equipment rather than radical sportiness. Its endowment includes:
- air conditioner
- speed regulator
- reversing camera
- front parking radar
- 12.3” digital dashboard
- 10.25” central touch screen
- navigation system (depending on market)
- voice-activated multimedia system
- leather or alcantara upholstery
- headlining in alcantara
- electrically adjustable heated seats
- keyless start
- 20 inch rims
- gloss black underbody
- titanium exhaust pipes
- Drivers Pack (3 suspension/tire combinations to choose from)
