Land Rover doesn’t offer a convertible Defender, but Dutch coachbuilder Heritage Customs does. This very limited edition of the Defender 90 is called Valiance Convertible. It is offered in three design configurations. The transformation costs €84,700 excluding VAT.
The Dutch coachbuilder Heritage Customsspecialist in the new Land Rover Defender and counting among its ranks the designer Niels van Roij, offers a convertible version of the Defender 90 named Valiance Convertible. It is initially a limited series of five copies, offered in three aesthetic configurations to choose from.
An edition inspired by the Côte d’Azur
The Valiance Convertible is equipped, like the convertible versions of the old Defenders, witha fixed frame roof on its front part while the rear is covered with a soft top. But it is indeed a vehicle of the XXIth century and this canvas opens or closes thanks to a partially electric mechanism.
One of the proposed configurations is named Côte d’Azur, inspired as its name suggests by the shores of the Mediterranean. It combines a blue body color, a light brown hood, black bumper inserts and 22-inch two-tone rims shod with whitewall tires. The cabin receives “sport” seats in leather matching the hood, as well as copper details. Note the rusty appearance of the air extractors on the front fenders, an option offered by Heritage Customs to Land Rover Defender owners.
A 4×4 convertible at nearly €140,000 excluding taxes
Named Solihull Sand, the second configuration proposed is classic. It uses the green body color, beige hood and white sheet-metal rims (20-inch here) of the very first Land Rover that left the factory in 1948. The cabin is covered in perforated brown leather. The latest configuration is called Kokkini Paralia, named after the “red beach” on the Greek island of Santorini. Its matte dark red bodywork is contrasted by a black hood, like the 22-inch rims. The seats also mix red and black.
Beyond the specs, Heritage Customs touts the handcrafted, high-end nature of its designs. This has a cost sincea Valiance Convertible claims 138,500 excluding taxeswhere €84,700 excluding VAT if the customer supplies the Defender.
