An unofficial rendering of a fan
Lancia isn’t dead yet. While the nearly comatose brand just kept alive by selling the Ypsilon to unerringly patriotic Italians, its new parents (Stellantis) have vowed to invest in one of the coolest, most intriguing car brands of all.
So yeah, Lancia just gets good again. Perhaps. We don’t know yet which models are eager to see what they will look like. A modern Stratos may be just too much to ask, but we still dare to consider a funny retro-models realistic.
Start with this Lancia Montecarlo Concept?
Fans are going to daydream out loud again. For example illustrator David Obendorfer. He brings us the Montecarlo Concept. To be clear: these images are not from Lancia. David drew inspiration from the Beta Montecarlo of yesteryear.

The creator wants to build a bridge between two segments. It takes elements of the old mid-engine sports car and combines them with today’s favorite body shape: the SUV. The dream Lancia Montecarlo is on the EMP2 platform and is a plug-in hybrid. Completely in line with the strategy of Lancia and Stellantis.
Black Plastic
“The black plastic front and black bumpers of the original Lancia Beta Montecarlo – which were very innovative and unusual solutions in the late 1970s – are being revisited in the concept as SUV styling cues,” he says. What do you think? Is this a direction Lancia should take?
