According to a report unveiled by the Federation of dispensing pharmacists (FSPF), this Tuesday, November 19, 2019, around 1 million French people have already been vaccinated against influenza in pharmacies!
Vaccination against influenza is strongly recommended for pregnant women, people over 65, people with chronic diseases (COPD, diabetes, respiratory or renal failure …), obese people (i.e. – say having a body mass index greater than or equal to 40), to immunocompromised people as well as to people with young children.
It is necessary to be vaccinated every year because the influenza virus changes from year to year. In adults, a single injection is sufficient: vaccine protection begins approximately two weeks after the date of the injection. The vaccine is covered 100% by the Health Insurance on presentation of the voucher.
Flu shot: no aluminum, no mercury
Influvac®, Fluarixtetra®, Vaxigrip tetra®, Influvac Tetra® … Influenza vaccines are made from inactivated virus strains – safe, therefore. It also contains egg proteins (because deactivated viruses are grown in chicken eggs), as well as formaldehyde and octoxynol in infinitesimal doses (which prevent the bite from becoming infected).
Since 2000, the flu vaccine no longer contains mercury (thimerosal); the flu vaccine is also one of the 26 aluminum-free vaccines used in France.
In a person not allergic to eggs, “ the side effects of influenza vaccines are mild and transient. The vaccinated person may experience pain with redness at the injection site, muscle pain, headache with a slight fever. More serious allergic reactions are extremely rare “says Health Insurance.
