There are many different types of yogurt that are healthy in some ways. Bulgarian yogurt in particular contains many minerals, such as potassium, calcium and magnesium. But when it comes to protein content, cottage cheese takes the cake. This type of fresh cheese is nowadays increasingly used as breakfast or snack, sometimes flavored with fruit and nuts.

In addition to proteins, cottage cheese contains many vitamins, especially vitamins A, B2 and B12. Vitamin A is important for the resistance. The B vitamins ensure proper functioning of the nervous system and contribute to the energy supply. Vitamin B12 is only found in animal products, such as dairy and meat, and plays a role in the formation of healthy red blood cells. Yogurt also contains these vitamins, but to a lesser extent.
Full, half full or lean?
All types of cottage cheese today are made from skimmed milk. To arrive at the fat content determined according to the Commodities Act, cream or another milk product is added to the quark. This means that whole cottage cheese is a lot richer in calories, but does not necessarily contain more protein. Semi-skimmed cottage cheese even consists of more proteins than full-fat cottage cheese. The rule is: the less fat the cottage cheese is, the less vitamin A it contains. This is the case with all dairy. Vitamin A is in the fat that is lost when whole milk is processed into skimmed milk. For the other vitamins and minerals, it makes little difference whether you eat full-fat or low-fat dairy.

Kilocalories
Of yogurt and quark, quark generally contains the most calories. If you prefer to consume fewer calories, opt for a non-full variant. Half full is a nice balance between the number of proteins, calories and healthy nutrients. The proteins in cottage cheese provide a feeling of satiety that lasts for a long time. So despite the amount of kilocalories in cottage cheese, it still fits very well into a healthy diet.
