Blond women are (ultimately) no dumber than others… they might even be less so!
Blondes will now have a scientific argument to make when attacked for their supposed stupidity. An American study has just shown that their intelligence is not weaker than that of others. On the contrary !
The study was carried out in the United States using a database of almost 11,000 men and women recruited into a cohort in 1979 (NLSY79), when they were between 14 and 21 years old. The following year, they all took the Armed Forces Intellectual Aptitude Test (AFQT), which is based on lexical and mathematical knowledge, written comprehension, and arithmetic logic. Subsequently, they answered the question: “What is your natural hair color?” “
In intellectual tests, blond women indeed achieved an average score of 103.2, against 102.7 for brown, 101.2 for redheads and 100.5 for brunettes. A shame!
“This study provides tangible evidence that no discrimination against blondes on their intelligence could be scientifically justified,” said Jay Zagorsky, researcher at Ohio State University and author of this study. “I also don’t think it’s possible to say that they’re smarter than the rest, but they sure aren’t dumber. “
Blondes are helped
Jay Zagorsky notes that the slight difference in the scores does not seem significant to him. The study neither confirms nor denies the existence of a genetic link between intelligence and hair color. On the other hand, he puts forward an argument that could explain the superior results of blondes.
“If blondes have a little advantage,” he explains, “it could just be based on the fact that statistically they grew up in homes where intellectual stimulation was greater. “
