New food scandal in sight at Ikea? While the Swedish brand advertises on its website that “dumplings are back in store restaurants”, you shouldn’t find the famous dumplings on the menu. Two families were taken from vomiting and diarrhea, immediately after eating meatballs at the Ikea restaurant in Lisses, in Essonne. The people were taken to hospital where they underwent tests. They came out on Thursday. Samples were taken and sent to two different laboratories. The results should be known on Monday.
According to the sign, the health of families “indisposed” is not in danger and “no other case has arisen since”.
The company explains in a press release that it has decided “as a precaution” to withdraw from the sale two batches of meatballs. It specifies that analyzes are underway on these batches to determine a possible link between the consumption of the pellets and the reported complaints.
The Evry prosecutor’s office has opened a preliminary investigation, according to AFP.
This business falls badly for the sign already splashed by the suspicion of meatballs in the horse meat, and chocolate tarts, some of which were contaminated by faecal bacteria.
