Hyundai gives news of the future Ioniq 7, with a sculpture and an illustration at the Munich Motor Show. The family electric SUV is to be marketed in 2023, after the “zero emission” Ioniq 6 sedan.
Hyundai took advantage of the opening of the Munich 2021 motor show to detail its latest electrification projects. The South Korean manufacturer plans to convert completely to “zero emissions” in 2035 in Europe, then in 2040 in its other main markets. This will notably involve fuel cell vehicles but also, of course, the Ioniq electric range. The Seoul-based firm has unveiled the silhouette of the Ioniq 7, the large battery-powered SUV announced for 2023.

A sculptural SUV
On the Hyundai stand, a structure made of transparent plates gives an idea of the proportions of the Ioniq 7. The latter promises to be imposing and will have a family vocation. It could offer seven places on board. The SUV will be based on the Hyundai group’s E-GMP modular platform inaugurated by the Ioniq 5 and will be the technical “cousin” of the future Kia EV7.

The profile of the Ioniq 7 revealed
Besides sculpture, Hyundai presented a new illustration of the Ioniq 7, in the shadow. We discover a light strip running over the entire width of the front face above vertical “pixel” effect lights placed on either side of the shield. The roof extends the windshield in an arc before declining very gently to the tailgate. The rear quarter window rises towards the rear to add dynamism to the profile. The ground clearance seems consistent.

Before the Ioniq 7, Hyundai will continue its electric offensive with the Ioniq 6 sedan. Expected for 2022, this was foreshadowed by the Prophecy concept of 2020 which poses in Munich next to the sculpture of the Ioniq 7.
