Just make it wet and then put it in the oven
Do you have pistolets, kaiser rolls or other hard rolls left over after brunch? Chances are they will be hard the next day. It’s a shame to throw it away, but luckily there is a trick that can make hard rolls crispy again.
The trick to make bake-off bread rolls soft on the inside and crispy on the outside doesn’t just work with hard bread rolls such as pistolets, kaiser rolls and Italian buns. You can also make a (not sliced) baguette nice and crispy again. That’s how you do it!
- Preheat the oven to 180°C†
- Wet the buns a little with some water. The best way to do this is to run your hands under the tap so that the sandwiches get too wet.
- Bake the buns in the oven for five minutes.
The buns should now be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Don’t know what you want to invest the bake-off bread rolls with? We made an overview with slim toppings for bread.
Tip
Do you have an air fryer? This trick works with that too! The step-by-step plan is the same, only preheat the airfryer to 180°C†
