I am a 45 year old woman. I used to eat mostly sweet and was not fat. Now after pregnancies (around my 32nd) I am 20 kilograms heavier and I now eat everything, but can’t get rid of the sweets. I can also eat all day long. How do I get out of here? I hope you can give me some advice. I’ve lost about 10 kilograms before, but I keep falling back into my old habit.

Good that you are making plans! Changing a diet completely in one go is not likely. It is better to make a step-by-step plan and reward yourself well for every step. Make healthy resolutions that suit your taste and pace. Keep them small and achievable and celebrate your successes.
Only when a new habit is completely ingrained do you take the next step. This way you slowly learn new habits and a healthier diet.
Other tips
- Start writing down regular times when you want to eat. Take plenty of time so that you can eat mindfully. This way you will feel more satisfied when you are satisfied.
- Avoid temptations: don’t bring snacks into the house. Eat mainly fiber-rich products, such as vegetables, fruit, whole wheat bread and potatoes. This way you are less prone to ‘tasting appetite’.
- When you’re out and about, you might want to pack something healthy in your bag so you don’t succumb to station and gas station temptations.
- For many people it also works well to the food meter to fill in; this way you become more aware of what you eat.
