Several unions joined the SNPHAR-E call for a strike on Monday, September 26, to denounce the deterioration of working conditions in hospitals.
The French public hospital remains a boiling volcano! In a press release published this Thursday, the gynecologists of SYNGOF (1), within Avenir Hospitalier, have just given their support to the protest movement planned by the anesthetists-resuscitators of SNPHAR-E (2), on September 26th.
All call on all the inter-union of hospital practitioners (PH) to unite to denounce the lack of consideration of the work and responsibility of hospital practitioners within hospitals. In a press release, these obstetrician gynecologists working at the hospital also denounce a deterioration in their working conditions.
More and more burnout
The finding is always the same. They are fed up with the ever-increasing weight of administrative burdens and decisions, the hardship very poorly recognized in their highly dependent specialty, or the major medico-legal risk they run. Many hospital obstetrician gynecologists live in situations of great suffering, or even “burn out”, they insist once again.
The consequences of this fed up degrade the image of the hospital, underline the practitioners. This lack of attractiveness indeed leads to the vacancy of many posts of obstetrician gynecologists and to the much criticized and expensive recourse to temporary services, “whereas hospital practitioners have lost 30% of purchasing power in 15 years”, the Syngof advances.
GHTs still contested
And recent developments in the functioning of the hospital do not reassure them. These doctors confide, for example, a great concern regarding the ongoing deployment of Territory Hospital Groups (GHT). “Will they focus on the safety of care to be provided to the entire population, taking into account the reality of medical demography in perinatal care (obstetrician gynecologists, anesthetists, pediatricians)? “Asks Syngof.
In this movement, the union is supported by other organizations such as the National Union of Hospital Biologists (SNBH) which now invites its members to join this movement, believing that hospital biology is in danger. Ditto for hospital psychiatrists (SPH) who express their impatience to see the measures of attracting hospital medical careers materialize.
A broad protest front
Finally, the Union of Public Hospitals Practitioners (SPHP) denounces the deterioration of hospital medical employment and also calls on its members to go on strike on September 26. It is urgent, according to them, to proceed to “the immediate application of equitable provisions in the measurement and organization of the working time of practitioners”.
As a reminder, a circular from the Ministry of Health recently set 48 hours (39 for clinical work and 9 reserved for non-clinical tasks) as the maximum weekly working time. But this only for hospital emergency physicians. An advantage that other PH would like.
