Honda’s new private jet is partly made of carbon

Honda has presented a new aircraft under the name 2600 Concept. This jet really can do it all.

Ever been on a private jet? It is in age of one aeroplane often not that different compared to a passenger flight. Aircraft last for decades and are significant investments for airlines. That is why it can sometimes feel a bit old-fashioned, on board such a thing. The new Honda 2600 Concept is anything but that.

It is a brand new modern jet that is ready for the future. As the name suggests, it is a concept, but Honda has the best intentions to eventually bring it to market. The 2600 has a cruising speed of 450 kts (833 km/h) and can fly at an altitude of more than 14,000 meters. Parts of the wing and fuselage are made of carbon, as this is an advanced lightweight material.

On the outside, but especially on the inside, it is a modern look. That’s a good place to stay on a long flight from Amsterdam to New York. No creaky old leather seats, but everything brand new.

The advantage of this is that this aircraft is also a lot more economical compared to older models. The Honda 2600 Concept would consume 40 percent less fuel and emit up to 20 percent less CO2. Honda will now conduct market studies to investigate whether there is interest in the jet. Subsequently, a possible production can be discussed.
