According to Italian researchers, Arnica could have an influence on healing, even at high dilutions of homeopathic medicines.
Arnica, a remedy well known to parents who use it to treat minor ailments in their children, has been the subject of new research. Researchers from the University of Verona (Italy) believe that homeopathic preparations using this plant could promote its healing and anti-inflammatory action. Their results are published in the review Plos One.
The effectiveness of this homeopathic remedy is debated, but the results of the Italian study suggest that Arnica could stimulate the synthesis of the products of the extracellular matrix of the skin, i.e. the large molecules present between the skin. cells, which ensure their cohesion and the integrity of a tissue, such as collagen for the skin for example.

The plant is thought to act on the expression of certain genes linked to cell motility and the activity of macrophages, a type of white blood cell. What is even more interesting for homeopaths and their advocates is that the plant seems to work, regardless of its concentration. Thus, very diluted homeopathic preparations would also be effective.
But as usual for articles defending homeopathy, criticism has already been heard. Some researchers believe that the data, as presented in the article, is not sufficient to conclude as to the effectiveness of Arnica in healing wounds. They invite the study authors to replicate their experiments in order to more precisely assess the effectiveness of the product on gene activation.
