My husband, 64, suffers from insomnia. He’s up all night. We’ve already been to the doctor, but he doesn’t know either. My husband is on medication for arrhythmias and for psoriasis. He is at his wits’ end and has no meaning in life anymore. I don’t know how to cheer him up anymore.

It seems to me that your man depressed is. If you take that as a starting point, the treatment consists of restoring sleep (initially with pills), but also a good daily schedule with a lot of activity and addressing psychological problems (thoughts that make your husband unhappy and that cause him to worry) . I would definitely consider a medicine to improve mood. I think the best thing to do is a consultation with the GGZ.
