Hairstylists are reporting new allergic reactions, such as rashes and burning, after applying dye products. The customers who suffered from these allergies had all contracted the coronavirus a few months earlier.
- Since the start of the vaccination campaign in France, 50,345,190 people have received at least one injection (i.e. 74.7% of the total population) and 48,247,475 people now have a complete vaccination schedule (i.e. 71.6% of the total population).
A new symptom of Covid-19 that we did not know so far? British hairdressers have reported at the BCC strange cases of allergies to dye products on some of their clients, many of whom had rashes or burns on the scalp or neck.
Patch tests
It all started with the testimony of Gemma, a customer who had a major skin reaction after a dye, when the same product had been applied to her for about ten years. This same client also reported that she recovered earlier from a Covid-19 infection. The hairdressing salon, which has implemented patch tests to ensure the safety of customers and to protect itself against possible legal proceedings, has found the same situation with four other customers.
A change in the immune system?
What do these individuals have in common? All had, like Gemma, contracted Covid-19 some time earlier. A phenomenon that could be explained by a modification of the immune system induced by the virus, as supposed by scientists from Imperial College London who are currently working on the subject.
