As of March 1, the insured must present a medical prescription to benefit from a reimbursement of the antigenic tests for the COVVID.
- Until now, antigenic tests have been the only quick tests – which detect acute respiratory infections – to be partially reimbursed by health insurance (up to 16.5 euros) even without medical prescription.
- From now on, in order not to have to assume the cost of antigenic and PCR tests, the insured must present a medical prescription when carrying out screening. Except vulnerable people, the elderly or people in long -term condition.
- With this measure, the Ministry of Health intends to bring in “the national strategy for prevention and management relating to acute respiratory infections of viral origin (IRA), including COVID-19, (…) in ordinary law”.
The antigenic tests for the COVVI-19 screening in pharmacy are no longer reimbursed by health insurance without medical prescription from this 1er March. This is what a decree Posted in the Official Journal of February 22, 2025 repealing various measures to manage the health crisis. This decision, taken by the Ministry of Health, marks a notable development in the COVVI-19 national screening strategy.
End of care without prescription
So farantigenic tests were the only quick tests – which detect acute respiratory infections – to be partially reimbursed by health insurance (up to 16.5 euros) even without medical prescription. A measure that had been established to facilitate access to screening during the critical phases of the pandemic. From this 1er March, this careless care will be deleted.
From now on, in order not to have to assume the cost of antigenic and PCR tests, the insured must present a medical prescription when carrying out screening. Exceptions made for certain categories of populations: vulnerable people, people aged 65 and over or people in long -term condition will continue to benefit from a reimbursement without medical prescription.
Bring the COVVID screening “in ordinary law”
With this measure, the Ministry of Health intends, beyond saving money, bringing in “The national strategy for prevention and management relating to acute respiratory infections of viral origin (IRA), including COVVI-19, […] in common law “recently indicated the Directorate General of Health at the microphone of Bfmtv. “These measures arrive at a critical moment, in the midst of flu epidemic and bronchiolitis in France, while hospitals are already saturated, white plans are multiplying, and that medical offices are still struggling to absorb the patient’s demand”denounced in return a press release of the Union of Unions of Pharmacists of Frame (USPO).
Among the other emergency measures taken during the pandemic which will end from March 1, 2025, we can also cite:
– wearing the compulsory mask in certain care places;
– Opening to telepo for certain acts carried out by the physiotherapists and podiatrists-podiatrists;
– free issuance of rapid diagnostic orientation tests (TROD) by pharmacists to liberal doctors and health professionals;
– Free distribution of masks to beneficiaries of complementary solidarity health (CSS), assistance in payment of complementary health (ACS) and state medical aid (AME).
