The orientations adopted by the government following the round table “Radiofrequencies, health, environment” opened on April 23 were presented on Monday May 25. They concern the mobile telephone and the relay antennas.
In particular, provision is made for the opening of an interministerial internet portal on this issue of radio frequencies.
Note also the obligation to provide a notice concerning the reasoned use of the mobile phone when purchasing a mobile or the prohibition for children to use a mobile phone in primary schools.
Regarding exposure to waves, on the other hand, “in the current state of knowledge, a reduction in regulatory thresholds is not justified from a health point of view,” said the government. A threshold that associations starting with Priartém (For a regulation of the establishment of mobile telephony relay antennas) would nevertheless like to see lowered.
If these associations invited to this round table always express “their frustration at not having been able to hear the scientists” that they proposed to hear, the government recalls that these discussions “were not intended to carry out a scientific expertise” . The opinion of the French Agency for Environmental and Occupational Health Safety (Afsset) is expected in September 2009.
