In the field of health, new technologies and connected objects, the multinational firm Google is obviously not at a loss for ideas. Determined to invest in this sector, the company has just applied for a patent from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to create a bracelet capable of destroying cancer cells in the blood. If this invention seems to be science fiction, the American giant has already established the plans for the prototype.
Called “Nanoparticle Phoresis”, the bracelet will be able to destroy cancer cells, previously targeted by iron oxide nanoparticles ingested by the patient. Once the cancer cells are marked, they will be destroyed by the action of the famous “anti-cancer” bracelet. However, the process of destroying cancer cells in the blood is still very unclear. Sites specializing in computer science evoke destruction by laser, radiofrequency, magnetic field, acoustic pulses or even infrared.
“The energy is generated by the connected device which is able to direct it towards the vascular system of the wearer of the bracelet”, explains Google in the description of the device. Ultimately, Google seeks to reduce the spread of cancer cells in the blood, a major asset for cancer patients. It remains to be seen whether this jewel of technology will indeed see the light of day and at what price it will be marketed.
