The long-awaited start of the discounts is this Friday, April 1, 2022! The government discount of 18 cents per liter of fuel comes into effect, along with other commercial operations from the various brands.
Fuel prices have skyrocketed since mid-February. In a few weeks, the liter of gasoline, diesel and ethanol has increased by several tens of cents. The 2 € bar had never been crossed in this way, the price can sometimes climb well beyond in some service stations. But the time is down and motorists will be able to reduce the pain.
A gesture from the government
The most important promotion and the easiest to understand is none other than that of the Government. Jean Castex had presented it upstream on March 12, and it comes into force this Friday 1er April 2022 at all service stations in France. This discount finally amounts to 18 cents per liter in mainland France, 17 cents in Corsica and 15 cents in the DROM-COM. All types of fuels are concerned by the measure, including ethanol, contrary to what had been announced.
How does it work? Well the prices displayed on the totems, at the checkout or directly at the pump are already discounted. No need to calculate, so you just have to help yourself. Also note that there is no limit on the amount of fuel purchased. The offer lasts exactly 4 months since planned until July 31, 2022. According to Jean Castex, “the operation should reduce the bill by €9 after a full 60 liters”. To this can be added discounts at the brands.

TotalEnergies also in the game
TotalEnergies was already reducing the price per liter of fuel in some 1,150 of its rural service stations. The company finally decided to extend its 10 cents per liter discount to 2,700 stations throughout France, and no longer just in the countryside. A measure which “is therefore added to that of the government of 18 cents €/litre including tax”. These 28 cents would save around €15 on a full €50 or even €9 for a full €30. Offer starts on 1er April and continues until May 15, 2022.

The tanker also wanted to clarify a few points. Thereby “the prices presented on the totems, at the cash desk and on the volume meters take into account the two discounts”. Contrary to the government measure, E85 and GNR are not part of the offer. Finally, the TotalEnergies Access network, already cheaper than conventional stations, is unfortunately not affected by the discount of 18 cents.
Signs and their tips
Casino extends its weekend discounts on 1er and April 2, 2022. The group wants to strike hard and announces the liter of fuel at only 0.85 €, within the limit of 50 liters maximum. If the motorist will pay his full price at the displayed price, the difference will be refunded to him in the form of a voucher. Attention, this one is to be collected at the reception of the store and to be used until April 3 at 12 p.m., only for individuals. It is only valid for purchases of a minimum amount of €100, in 69 stores that you will find just here.
Auchan is, for the time being, the other major retailer to keep its own discounts in addition to that of the State. The latter offers a voucher of 6 euros for the purchase of a minimum of 30 liters of fuel. You will then have until Saturday April 9, with presentation of your ticket, to benefit from it.
