One of the largest botanical gardens in the world can be found near London. Kew Gardens, it’s called the beauty. Originally the gardens and buildings (including the colossal and magnificent Victorian glasshouse) were owned by successive royal families, but in 1841 the monarch gave the 120-acre site to the people. And now we don’t even have to go to London to enjoy it all, because they are building a huge global plant database, Plants of the World, with over a million species. The job will not be completed until 2020, but there is already enough to enjoy.
