With Live Photos, Apple brought movement to iPhone photography, bringing still images – complete with sound – to life. Nice for those who wanted this, but less nice for those who also wanted to share it with others who don’t have iOS. Soon commercial solutions appeared to convert Live Photos, but in the meantime it can also be done for free with Google’s Motion Stills. This allows you to save a Live Photo as an animated GIF image (with fewer colors than the original, but useful for single frames) or as a video file with the same high resolution as the image.
