Ford is removing diesel from the Kuga range and increasing prices for other versions. The SUV, only offered in hybrid or plug-in hybrid, is able to run on E85 bioethanol in certain configurations. It now starts at € 38,150.
As Ford develops its hybrid range, 100% thermal engines disappear from its catalog. Remember that the American manufacturer intends to offer an exclusively “zero emission” offer in Europe by 2030. And, from 2026, all its models will be plug-in hybrid or electric on the Old Continent. Diesel side is already the hecatomb. After the Fiesta and Ecosport in 2020, then the Mondeo, S-Max and Galaxy a few weeks ago, it’s the Kuga’s turn to say goodbye to diesel. Even the 2.0 l EcoBlue 150 hp micro-hybrid unit goes by the wayside, with the 1.5 l EcoBlue 120 hp.

A much more expensive entry-level Kuga
The Kuga range therefore only includes the 2.5 l Duratec four-cylinder petrol engine, associated with several levels of electrification and compatible with E85 bioethanol on the non-plug-in hybrid traction variant. As Ford had announced, the latter is no longer offered in this form. It is she who now plays the role of entry-level, hitherto provided by the 120 hp diesel with manual transmission. The price of this Flexifuel version has, however, increased by € 850 in three months. If we refer to the catalog of last September, the base price of the Ford Kuga went from € 32,300 to € 38,150, or nearly € 6,000 increase! The plug-in hybrid Kuga is available from € 40,850. It benefits from an ecological bonus of € 1,000 if it is ordered before the 1ster July 2022. The range of finishes and equipment remains unchanged.
